Just keep this in mind as I'm going to somewhat assume there's some truth to this theory. But if they're a medical group, then why did Shining leave?īefore we move on, do you guys know of one particular headcanon about Shining? This headcanon says that Shining might be immune to Oripathy, as she remains non-infected despite frequenting areas with high rates of oripathy.

And from how Shining speaks about salvation, sins, and punishments, it also vaguely sounds like a religious group too, which is cool and all as it fits her image to a T. So the Confessors seems to be a medical Sarkaz organization (explaining Shining's extensive medical knowledge and experience) who imprisoned Nightingale for her healing powers. Those people who imprisoned me said the same thing. will one day catch up to us and we will have to face our punishment. the crime of starting the war, as Demons. She has this line as her "Talk after promotion 2" line:

Now, there are hints that the people who caged Nightingale and used her for her healing powers are the Confessors.

Nightingale, meanwhile, "did not have a full grasp of the principles and practice of modern medicine, nor did she score well on written exams, but she knew the human body and functions like the back of her hand," which is the opposite of Shining's. Aside from their color scheme being black and white, Shining is described as "an authority in fields such as Originium Arts, field medicine, medical theories, and clinical medicine," and that she "pioneered the field with her colleagues to alleviate the pain of the infected," suggesting that Shining has extensive background and history as a medic and Originium researcher. Shining and Nightingale are interesting opposites. We know that Nightingale used to be caged up for her healing powers, that Shining broke her out, and the two traveled together as wandering medics before meeting Nearl and forming the Followers.

What do we know about Shining and Nightingale? Admittedly not much. Warning: This is going to be pretty long and involves some headcanons. However, recent revelations in Under Tides and Nightingale's operator records has me thinking on a theory of their past, what the Confessors' deal is, and how it all ties into Oripathy.
